Bernardsville, New Jersey is a charming town with population of 7,345 that has a semi-rural and suburban character. Bernardsville is located 35 west of New York City in Somerset County. Bernardsville has a variety of shops, restaurants as well as its own cinema and YMCA and there are 6 outstanding private golf clubs within 5 miles. The New Jersey Transit has 2 express trains in and out of New York Penn Station each day, and the express trip takes 50 minutes. There are several large employers including Verizon, Avaya, Lucent and Chubb, as well as numerous middle market and smaller companies located within 5 to 25 minutes driving time. The median income is $104,000 according to the 2000 census. The racial makeup of Bernardsville Borough according to census data, is approximately 94% White, 0.25% African American, 0.15% Native American, 3% Asian, and 2-3% from other races or from two or more races.
